This Sunday, from 21.05, a new 10 episode-series can be watched on TNT channel, The Search Party, an American dark comedy television series created by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, and Michael Showalter.
The synopsis says that living in New York City, Dory (Alia Shawkat) comes across a flier asking for the whereabouts of Chantal Witherbottom (Clare McNulty), whom she recognises, and decides to make it her life mission to find her. She drags her circle of friends into her investigation including her boyfriend, Drew (John Reynolds) and friends, Elliott (John Early) and Portia (Meredith Hagner), who have a hard time understanding her interest but gradually get deeper involved in the mystery.
The series was produced in Tony Hernandez’s Jax Media studio, where movies such as Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer, Younger, Difficult People, Odd Mom Out and others were produced there.
The Guardian notes Why you’ll love this series: “Search Party is two shows in one. The first is a tightly wound thriller about Chantal, a young woman who goes missing in mysterious circumstances. The second, the padding around this thrusting narrative, is a self-mocking portrait of millennials in crisis.” Also, their recommendation is to “make sure you watch it to the end. The final episode ties up all the loose ends, as you’d hope, but it does so in such an unexpected way that you’ll feel violently spun around. Upon a second viewing, after taking note of all the characters and their motivations, the climax may feel like slightly less of a sucker-punch, but hats off to the writers for ending the series on an unashamedly weird note.”
