The American International School of Bucharest (AISB) has reported revenues worth EUR 16.5 million at the end of 2016 and it expects a similar result in 2017 , it has announced.

During the 2016/2017 school year, AISB has invested some EUR 7 million the bulk of which went into building a new early education center from scratch (EUR 6.5 million) while the remaining went into upgrading and modernizing classrooms. For the 2017/2018 school year AISB has set aside approximately EUR 2 million for the construction of a technology center.

AISB head, Robert Brindley was telling BR in an interview a few months ago that the money to support these investments comes entirely from the school’s funds, which are made up almost entirely of tuition fees.

Some 833 students from 56 different countries are enrolled at AISB presently with ages between two and 18. The school has a strict policy when it comes to the nationality of its students and every nationality is kept to a certain percentage. For example, at present Romanians make up 30 percent of the AISB’S students, followed by Americans (15 percent), Turks (15 percent), Israelis (5 percent) and Germans (4 percent). Demand has been going up last year, but because of this policy only 5 percent of the eligible students who apply manage to get enrolled, said company representatives.

The annual tuition fee for a two-year-old starts at about EUR 7,000 per year for the short 8:00 to 12:00 program and go as high as EUR 20,000 for the high school years.
