Local canned food producer Hame Romania has managed to increase its turnover by 58 percent in Q1 2012 y-o-y, mainly due to the relaunch of the Antrefrig product line at the beginning of this year, according to company representatives.
The Antrefrig pate brand, which has recently celebrated 100 years, was acquired by Hame in 2007.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, Hame Romania reported for 2010 a turnover of about RON 30 million (approximately EUR 7.14 million) and RON 150,000 profit (approximately EUR 35,000) in 2010 and 185 employees.
Hame Romania is part of Czech Hame Holding which runs operations in about 40 countries. It owns nine production facilities out of which seven are in the CzechRepublic, and the remaining two are in Russia and Romania, producing a wide variety of canned food products, baby-food, ketchup, refrigerated products, ready meals and sandwiches.
Hame Holding started exporting to Romania back in 1995 and in 2004 it bought a factory in Caracal, Olt county. The company is present in Romania with the Hame, Antrefrig, Hangita, Cara and Hamanek brands.
