Women Entrepreneurs Employers’ Federation (FPFA) launched today in Bucharest. The body is designed to support the involvement of women in the economic and social life of Romania.

The FPFA is the only female associative organization that aims to be representative in the social dialogue and to create an institutionalized support system for Romania’s women entrepreneurs.

The initiative was welcomed by Romanian president Klaus Iohannis, who sent a message of support to all women involved in entrepreneurship. The message was delivered by Cosmin Marinescu, Presidential Advisor on Economic and Social Policy to the President of Romania.

“Romanian entrepreneurship has a lot of potential. More courage is needed for them to become models of success in as many sectors as possible. I want to assure you of all our support,” the message read. According to the Romanian president, statistics show that 40 percent of businesses in Romania are led by women and one third SMEs are founded by women. Moreover, Romania is among the countries where the wage gap is among the smallest.

According to the Romanian president’s message, women have made their mark on the creative sector – the creative industries and those with a big potential, namely the IT sector. “I know very well the fact that a lot of women look to entrepreneurship with faith. But the fight against bureaucracy, corruption and instability in the legislative environment is ongoing. Romania has can pride itself with great economic growth of 7 percent but the macro-economic context is not without challenges. The business environment wants fundamental fiscal measures that can facilitate entrepreneurial development,” the message said.

Entrepreneur and business angel Marius Ghenea delivered a welcome message as well and stressed that Romanian women entrepreneurs bring a valuable contribution to the local business environment. “Entrepreneurship is the force that brings Romania further, and I congratulate all Romanians who are brave. Women usually are braver than we men, but we must admit this is a world of male entrepreneurs and we don’t want this to remain like this. If we look at companies and the way they function we see a lot of value that women bring along. It is a very good moment and I am convinced that this can be a catalyst not only in Bucharest but in all big cities. I hope to see very good results in a  short time and to meet you all in Bucharest or in the country,” Ghenea said.
