ArcelorMittal Galati invests EUR 6.6 mln to cut emissions

Steel mill ArcelorMittal Galati has put EUR 6.6 million over the past year to reduce emissions of a sintering machine and to modernize a blast furnace as part of an ongoing program to protect the environment.

The company invested EUR 5.5 million for 2 de-dusting projects at one of its sintering machines and has also modernized a blast furnace to increase technological efficiency. The company installed equipment to reduce dust emissions at the electro-filter.

“We are committed to take all necessary measures to ensure the full compliance with the requirements of the EU and of the local legislation in this field,” said Bruno Ribo, CEO of ArcelorMittal Galati. “We have implemented a rigorous environment improvement program that we continued despite the economic crisis and we will follow it as per our commitments”.

The company has invested over USD 160 million in environmental protection programs over the last ten years.
