Coca Cola Romania leads beverage market in 2014, shows RisCo.ro top

Coca Cola HBC Romania had a turnover of RON 1.83 billion (EUR 0.41 billion) in 2014, up by RON 20.37 million (EUR 4.54 million) from 2013 according to a RisCo.ro top of companies in the beverage market. With a net profit of RON 102.3 million (EUR 22.8 million), they went up by RON 18.73 million (EUR 4.17  million) in 2014. Their number of employees has dropped from 1,617 in 2013 to 1,546 in 2014.

 

Ursus Breweries SA, though holding the second place, had negative developments both in terms of turnover and profits. Turnover was down by RON 13.1 million, reaching RON 1.41 billion. More importantly, the company recorded a loss of RON 0.89 million in 2014 compared to a profit of RON 1.1 million in the previous year.

The highest net profit was registered by Heineken Romania, going up to RON 138.7 million, while its turnover positioned the company in third place, with RON 1.08 billion. Even though it scored highest in profit, Heineken has known a decrease from RON 159.9 million in 2013. Turnover also feel by RON 34.8 million.

When it comes to profit, Bergenbier registered the highest loss, of RON 104.3 million, comparable to the previous year. Their turnover puts the firm in sixth place, going up by RON 25.07 million, to RON 465.5 million in 2014.

Romaqua Group is the first Romanian-owned company to enter the. The Borsec mineral water manufacturer occupies fifth place this year, one position lower than in 2013 due to the drop of RON 26.8 million in turnover, to 561 million. Instead, the company’s profit increased to RON 11.49 million lei, RON 10.12 million lei higher than that of 2013. A decrease was recorded in number of employees from 1,967 to 1,895.

Profitability for the mineral waters and juices markets can be improved mainly through cost optimization, while beer market depends on household consumption and the VAT drop happening this year. The most spectacular increases are expected on the local market of wine producers, where the investments in recent years have been significant, and export markets offer business opportunities for local companies, concludes the report.
