IKEA purchased on Friday the land for the construction of the second store in Romania, also in Bucharest, in the Pallady Boulevard area in District 3, announced the Swedish retailer of furniture and decoration, according to Mediafax.

The land has an area of approximately 13.7 hectares and is located in Bucharest, District 3, 57 Pallady Blvd.

“In various large cities in Romania there is potential to open IKEA stores. At the same time, the existing store in Bucharest is currently receiving a large number of visitors, fact which might affect their perception of the experience during the purchase process or is too far from some residents of Bucharest who choose not to visit us due to this. Therefore, we decided to open our second store in Bucharest, in an area that offers greater access to Bucharesters to the public transportation network in far areas. Of course we will not stop here. Finding the most suitable land in other localities stays on our list of priorities,” stated in a press release Cornel Oprisan, retail manager IKEA Romania.

The first IKEA store was opened in 2007 in Northern Bucharest, in Baneasa, having been built from scratch.
