Pink Martini returns to Romania for a new musical adventure, this time with soloist China Forbes. The “little orchestra” from Portland will present its mix of Cuban Jazz, chamber music, Brazilian marches and film soundtracks to the Romanian public along with the latest album, Dream a Little Dream.
Pink Martini’s eighth studio album is the first major international release by Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and August von Trapp, the great-grandchildren of Captain and Maria von Trapp, made famous by the 1965 film The Sound of Music, who have been frequent guest performers with Pink Martini for the past two years. This collaboration is fronted by the four-part harmonies of the singing siblings, to pianist Thomas Lauderdale’s arrangements. The 15-track recording traverses the world, from Sweden and Rwanda to China and Bavaria, and features guest appearances by The Chieftains, Wayne Newton, “Jungle” Jack Hanna, and Charmian Carr (who played Liesl in the original Sound of Music).
The concert takes place on October 4 at the Palace Hall. Tickets cost from RON 120 to RON 250 and can be bought from the Evenim network.
