According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, Romania’s natural increase was negative (an excess of deceased persons over live births) both in June and in May 2015.
However, June showed an improvement against May, with 3,117 persons versus 5,606. The values were also above the ones registered in June 2014 (3,327 persons).
In June, the births of 16,630 children were recorded, 1,753 more than in May 2015. The number of persons whose deaths were recorded was 19,747, 735 less than in May 2015.
Year on year, the number of live births rose by 541 in June 2015, and the number of persons who died was higher by 331 than in June 2014.
The number of deaths of children under 1 year recorded in June was 131, an increase of 3 compared to May 2015 (128 deceased persons under one year), though year on year the number was smaller by 11.
In June 2015, 9,395 marriages were recorded (down 1,492 against May 2015), and 2,650 divorces were formally pronounced, (down by 7). Year on year, marriages decreased by 1,015, while divorce numbers increased by 89.
