Vlad Grigore and Razvan Stuparu, the two members of Mongolification team have entered the competition Mongol Rally, a charity race which starts in UK with the end point in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, traveling over 18.000 km in order to raise money for Saving the Tropical Forest.

The Mongol Rally is a car rally that begins in Europe and ends in Ulan Bator, Mongolia and it is described as the “greatest adventure in the world”. The rally required competing vehicles to have an engine displacement of less than 1,200 cc to reflect the increasing difficulty of obtaining a car since the Mongolian government stipulated that all competing vehicles must be less than 10 years old.

The rally is designed to be an adventure for the participants, and not a traditional race. The organizers (“The Adventurists”) are careful to point out that racing on highways is illegal, and that no recognition is given to the first finisher. There are other differences from mainstream rallies, particularly the fact that no support team is provided and no other arrangements are made such as for accommodation. According to BBC, Mongol Rally is, alongside “Dakar Rally”, “24 hours Le Mans”, “Indianapolis 500”, “La Carrera Panamericana” included in the Top 10 automotive endurance races.

Mongolification team is looking for two team-mates for their journey to London, which will start on July 11, in order to raise more money for the charitable cause. The team goes to London with Yourtmobile, the car their specially acquired for this rally, to take part at the official start of the competition. The two guest members will travel with the Mongolification team from Bucharest to London (July 13-14), then Prague (July 15-16), and back to Romania, with a stop in Sibiu (July 17-18) and Bucharest (July 19). If you want to be part of the charitable rally, you should convince your friends to donate money for the project through Bursa Binelui platform, here, and the selection will be made according to the sum gathered for the event.

For the first time, the Mongol Rally will have a checkpoint in Romania, at Vama Veche, on July 19. Mongolification team will promote Romania during the rally, having the support of the Ministry of Tourism, which prepared some tourism information about the country.

More information about the Mongolification can be found on their blog and their Facebook page.
