Romanian women spend RON 500 per quarter on cosmetic products

Romanian women are growing more concerned with quality over quantity when it comes to cosmetic products, spending about RON 500 once every three months for new ones, a study by Sole Luxury Boutique shows.

“While 5 or 7 years ago women preferred to buy as many beauty products, lately, due to a wide variety of cosmetic brands available on the market, clients began to more carefully select the necessary products and reduce their number, favoring quality,” said Angela Tiboc, director of Sole’s fashion & lifestyle division.

Now women tend to choose more qualitative versions of basic cosmetic products, such as foundations, mascaras and lipsticks, with foundations holding the largest share of sales, at about 25 percent. Clients change these products once every three months, either because they are finished or out of curiosity to try out new products.

When it comes to buying habits, physical stores still have the lead in terms of sales, most women preferring to test out their cosmetic products and choosing to buy online only products they are familiar with.

Sole Luxury Boutique is a cosmetic retailer with units in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Baia Mare and Nunberg, Germany.
