Romania reported a 5.3 percent unemployment rate at the end of December, up by 0.11 percentage points against the previous month and down by 0.36 percentage points against the same month last year, according to data from the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).
This means there was a total number 478,338 unemployed persons at the end of December, up by 9,489 m-o-m. Unemployment among men was 5.78 percent in December (up from 5.57 percent) and 4.73 percent (down from 4.74) among women.
The highest number of unemployed was reported among those aged between 40 and 49, according to the same source.
