A bus carrying 19 Israeli tourists crashed while descending into the Slanic salt mine, in Romania’s Prahova county. The passengers were lightly injured and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The bus overturned inside the Unirea salt mine in Slanic Prahova, southern Romania. The passengers included eight children.

According to the spokesperson of the local police, Raluca Brezeanu, the bus overturned at the entrance to the salt mine in the tunnel leading to the tourist area.

Access to the salt mine was not affected by the crash. Visitors of the salt mine, one of Romania’s most popular tourist attractions, descend to the mine by bus after the elevator broke down in the summer of 2014.

Many Israelis take advantage of the Passover vacation to travel overseas and Romania is a popular destination among Israeli tourists.
