500 gather in Victoria Square for second children’s protest

Around 500 parents and children gathered in front of the Government building in Victoria Square on Saturday, in the latest episode in the wave of protests that swept through the country since January. On January 31 the Government passed controversial ordinance 13/2017, which partially decriminalized abuse of office.

The rally was organized by via the Facebook page “Coruptia ucide/Corruption kills” under the tagline “Education for democracy – Lesson of civic education”. Participants to the rally played games, drew and decorated the sidewalk with flower pots.

This is the second rally where the main participants are children, after the one held two weeks ago. On Wednesday the National Authority for Protection of Children’s Rights and Adoption (ANPDCA) said it had received 25 complaints regarding the presence of children at public rallies.
