Due to the reduction of provisions for bad loans, the profit of Greek group Alpha Bank in Romania went up by over three times in the first semester to EUR 20.3 million, compared with EUR 6.3 million in the same period of 2016.

The provisions’ value of the non-performing loans of Alpha Bank in Romania decreased from EUR 23.4 million at the end of June 2016 to EUR 2.1 million. At the end of the first semester the share of the NPLs in the overall loans book was 14.8 percent, a drop from 15.5 percent at the same interval of 2016.

The operational revenue dropped by almost 16 percent up to EUR 64.2 million, while the operational expenses went down by 0.2 percent from EUR 46.2 million to EUR 46.1 million. The loans portfolio of the clients from Romania climbed slightly from EUR 2.80 billion to EUR 2.811 billion, negatively affected by the drop in finances on retail and corporate segments.

On the other side, the deposits increased by 12.7 percent from around EUR 1.6 billion in June 2016 to almost EUR 1.8 billion.

The Greek group has a network of 130 subsidiaries in Romania and 1,874 employees.
