ANCOM: Fines of over RON 1 mln applied on the electronics market from 2017 until the present

The value of the fines applied by the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) during 2017 and until now, has exceeded RON 1.05 million, most of them registered on the electronic communications market, according to ANCOM data.

In the reference interval, were made around 4,700 controls both on the electronic communications market, as well as on postal services market.

According to the source, on the electronic communications market, ANCOM made 2,643 controls in 2017, transmitting as a result 221 notifications and 588 warnings, as well as 73 fines, amounting to RON 749,500.

Most of the fines (25), amounting to RON 154,000, were applied to the suppliers of network CATV for not respecting the conditions of the General Authority. Also, were applied nine fines with overall values of RON 60,500 to the operators who own licenses of radio frequencies usage.

On the list of the most common irregularities are: not respecting the previsions from the the authorized documents, as well as the previsions regarding the operation of the radio-communications stations.

“ The rest of 39 fines, amounting to RON 535,0000, were applied by ANCOM to the suppliers of television and radio services (RTV), to the suppliers of telephone services, respectively to the suppliers of services of data transmission and internet access.

Moreover, ANCOM applied in October the biggest fine on the electronic communications market, worth RON 200,000, to Telekom Romania Mobile Communications S.A, for not respecting the legal previsions regarding the telephone numbers switch.

On the other hand, on radio equipments market, ANCOM made 895 controls, transmitting 79 warnings and 11 fines in total value of RON 102,500. The biggest fine was worth RON 15,000 and was applied in fourth cases.
