Eiki Nestor, the president of the Estonian Parliament, has announced that he has joined his counterparts in Poland, Latvia and Lithuania by signing an open letter which calls on the rest of EU member states to protest against the North Stream 2 pipeline.
Eiki Nesto says that the project “intends to make EU states depend on Russian gas” and that “Estonia believes that North Stream 2 is a political project.”
The planned pipeline aims to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, bypassing Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
In this context, the PM of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, warned that this project is generating strong dissension and may lead to an open military conflict between Russia and the Ukraine.
