Ashoka, the biggest global organization that supports the social entrepreneurs and the social innovation, ranked the social innovators in Romania: over 30 of the most famous names in the social entrepreneurship. Vlad Voiculescu (MagiCamp), Elena Calistru (Funky Citizens), Tica Darie (Made in Rosia Montana), Oana Preda (CeRe) and Cristian Lupsa (Decat o Revista) are among the leaders included in the top.

In the last months, Ashoka worked on the map of the social innovators in Romania that comprises over 1,000 people that generate the change in our country.

“Over 60 percent of the innovators supported by us are radically transforming public politics and the governance in the fields they activate, either we are talking about energy and environment, social inclusion or education. We have the faith that, in a world found in accelerated change, each one of us must gain the necessary abilities to become an active agent of positive social change,” said Corina Murafa, co-director Ashoka Romania.

Laura Catana, also co-director of the organization, said that in 2017, up to Ashoka fellows will be invited in Romania. They have developed innovations in sectors such as education, energy and social inclusion.

In addition, Ashoka will select the first Romanian social innovators that will be joining the other 3,500 fellows in the whole world through an intense fellowship program that includes financial and non-financial support.

Present in over 90 countries in the world, Ashoka aims to develop an ecosystem dedicated to the social innovation, scaling national and international solutions in order to solve the deep problems of the Romanian society.
