The CEO of the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) Sergiu Manea has replaced Steven van Groningen as the president of the Council of Banking Employers of Romania (CPBR).
The organization also decided to renew the term of current Vice President Rasvan Radu, CEO of UniCredit Bank.
Raiffeisen Bank President Steven van Groningen will keep his position of member of the CPBR Council, alongside CEO Bancpost Philippos Karamanolis and ING Bank CEO Michal Szczurek. Szczurek was also appointed CPBR treasury.
“First of all I would like to thank members for the trust they showed by appointing me in the position of CPBR President, an organization via which we are promoting a wide cooperation with all parties interested for a stronger financial sector and a more responsible one towards clients, employees, shareholders and the entire economic environment in its entirety,” Sergiu Manea said.
“I will seek the strengthening of the role of the CPBR as employers’ entity, as a promoter of a consistent dialogue for development by representing the priorities of the financial-banking sector including within the wider framework offered by the CONCORDIA Employers Confederation, whose members we are,” he added.
I am happy that, three years after CPBR was created, the banking system made important steps also towards the structured social dialogue, benefiting from the expertise of banks that are also large employers in the Romanian economy. My involvement in supporting CPBR and if the financial-baking system in general will continue from my position of President of the Council of the FINBAN federation. He added that, by naming a new president of the CPBR Council, the CPBR democratic governance principle is respected, namely the rotation of the management at the end of the first mandate.
