BCR has registered this year a growth in the operations made by individuals following the elimination of commissions for the most important transactions and the introduction of the free current account. The bank’s clients had 44 million free transactions since the implementation of the offer in October 2015 through the multi-functional ATMs in the entire country.

Over 84 percent of the clients‘ transactions were made online, in POS systems installed at merchandisers, as well as through the 2,600 ATMs and BCR multi-functionals available in Romania. Also, the number of clients who use Internet Banking grew by 30 percent and the ones who use Mobile Banking by over 150 percent.

„We are extremely happy because our strategy of growth in the accessibility level  of the population towards the banking products gives results. We believe that the financial education starts, firstly through the free access at the banking services. The current account with zero commission and the debit card zero attached to it are the main instruments through which anybody can benefit from this kind of services, from pupils to employees and retired people,” said Dana Demetrian, vice president of retail at BCR.

Almost 200,000 BCR clients have benefited starting 2009 from refinancing, restructures or costs adjustments of loans. Basically, in the last seven year a loans volume of RON 4.5 billion entered in a costs reduction process.

BCR launched on October 20, the Financial Dialog Center from Bucharest, based on financial education aiming to create a dialog with each client.

According to the BCR study from October, 42 percent of the Romanians expect the financial education to be delivered by banks and finance specialists, while only 18 percent think it should be taught in schools.
