Alianța, the four-year old Washington D.C. based organization of Americans and Romanians, has announced the appointment of Bill Avery as its executive director.
Avery is a well-known figure in American and Romanian business circles, has lived and worked in Romania, and is the founder of the English-language media company, Business Review, published since 1998.
“Bill brings extensive business leadership and communications experience to Alianța. He has proven his ability to build up a successful business, organize prestigious events and fundraise in Bucharest, as well as success in key marketing/communications leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group (Optum) in the U.S.,” said Jim Rosapepe, board chairman. “We welcome his expertise as we bring Alianța to the next level.”
“I am honored to have this opportunity to support Alianța’s ambitious growth plans. I will offer the same dedication to building up Alianța as I did to my other activities related to supporting Romanian-American business and cultural links,” said Avery.
“As Alianța’s first full-time executive director, I am grateful for the support of the Board, and Daniela Kammrath,” he added.
Kammrath, the former executive director of Alianta, will head two affinity projects to promote Romanian film festivals and Romanian language training in the US.
Alianța is a non-partisan alliance of American and Romanian organizations and professionals working to strengthen the cultural, economic, and security ties between the two countries.
