The Milken Institute’s Best-Performing Cities (BPC) Europe index provides an objective benchmark for examining which regional strategies are succeeding. BPC Europe uses metrics such as job creation, wage gains, manufacturing, and skilled service industry concentration to evaluate the relative performance of European regions.

Bucharest comes in at number 16 in the Best Performing Cities Index, much lower than the North-West region of Romania which is on the fifth position, mostly helped by cities like Timisoara and Cluj with their rapid job growth, integration of technology and result-driven universities.

The leader of the 2017 Index is the Inner London-East region, due to its dynamic economy, flourishing information and communication technology sectors, and skilled international workforce.

After East London, the Top 5 is completed by Stockholm, Budapest, Gdansk and North-West Romania.
