The Bucharest City Hall has posted on its website for public debate the project for the sixth Bucharest metro line, from 1 Mai to Otopeni. The project will be open for debate until July 29.

The specialized report shows that Line 6 will follow along Calea Grivitei, Pajura railway, Bd. Poligrafiei Free Press Square and Ploiesti highway / DN1 / E60. The following stations are projected: Pajura, Expozitiei, Montreal Square, Baneasa train station, Baneasa Airport, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Bratianu and Otopeni Airport.

The terrain covered by the line crosses Bucharest’s District 1 and is partially owned by private individuals, the report further shows, and they will be expropriated for a public utility cause.

The line will offer access to important points across the city, such as Romexpo, the Free Press Square, the Herastrau Park, the two airports, Baneasa and Otopeni, Baneasa Shopping City and the Police Academy. The connection with the rest of the metro network will be made at 1 Mai station (Line 4).

The plan also includes a number of restrictions and recommendations for the areas it crosses, such as a mandatory preservation and enhancement of the Romexpo pavilion building, the green spaces bordering the Kiseleff Boulevard and the Baneasa Airport building.
