Car registration up by 19.4 pct in fourth quarter of 2016

New car registration increased by 19.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016, to 101,475 units, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics.

In the last quarter of 2016, new registrations of cars for passenger transport increased by 6 percent year-on-year, to 103,147 units.

During the period surveyed, car registrations for cars used to transport goods increased by 2.9 percent, to 24,971 units. The most significant increase was recorded in the mopeds and motorcycles, namely 32.2 percent (1,118 units). There was a decrease in the number of buses and minibuses enrolled, to 554 registrations, representing a 38.5 percent decrease.

New car registrations for transport of goods increased by 8.9 percent in the category of trailer and semitrailer to 6,677 units, by 1.1 percent in the lorry category, with 14,482 units and by 0.3 percent in the category of agrimotors, with 3,812 units.

Compared to the third semester of 2016, in Q4 new car registrations for passenger transport decreased 15.9 percent, and new car registrations for transport of goods were up by 3.2 percent.
