Disgraced businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu hit with fresh 10-year sentence for EUR 12 million fraud

Disgraced Romanian businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu, currently serving a prison sentence, received a new 10-year sentence for defrauding the Association of Employees of SNP Petrom.  

The Bucharest Court of Appeal sentenced on Tursday businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu to 10 years in prison. He is accused of money laundering and defrauding the patrimony Association of Employees of SNP Petrom SA. The total prejudice caused to the association was set at EUR 12 million.

The Judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal merged the sentences of the businessman and sentenced him to 10 years in prison in the case relating to the patrimony of the association.

The court also sentenced Liviu Luca, to 10 years in prison. This is the
