DPD Romania, one of local courier company, registered a turnover increase of  26 percent in the first six months of the year compared with the same period of 2015, on the back of a growth in deliveries’ volume by 35 percent.

Thus, the DPD Romania’s turnover reached RON 47 million in the first semester, with RON 10 million bigger compared with the result from 2015.

Out of the total deliveries of the company, 88 percent were domestic and 7 percent external, while 5 percent were generated by the foreign deliveries within the country.

The main engines that led to the growth reported in the first semester were the electronic commerce, the international deliveries, but also the new palette delivery service in courier delivery, PalettOne.

„The first semester validated our targets for 2016. The e-commerce continues to generate the most money in our business. What I’ve observed however, this year, is that more and more Romanians send and receive packages outside the country. Another important pillar for us was represented by the merchandise deliveries in courier regime, the new service dedicated to FMCG clients, printing, stationary,  home& deco and auto, ” said Lucian Aldescu, CEO of DPD Romania.

According to him, until the end of 2016, the DPD palletes volume will double, taking into account the increase of  manipulation and selection capacity from the two new storehouses (Sibiu and Bucharest), the auto fleet increase and new special solutions for PalettOne clients.

March, May and June generated most of the deliveries, accounting for 53 percent out of the total DPD deliveries from the January-July interval.
