Social Democratic Party (PSD) head and Chamber of Deputies speaker Liviu Dragnea will nominate PSD MP Leonard Badea as head of the Financial Supervision Authority (ASF).
Dragnea made the announcement on Monday, in Alexandria. „I have in view a colleague for the presidency. I believe a very good and efficient person there can be Leo Badea, who is the president of the budget and finance committee withing the Chamber of Deputies […]. I hope he agrees. I will nominate him,” Dragnea told journalists during a work visit to Alexandria.
Should he be appointed ASF head, Badea must give up on his mandate as MP. „He must give up on his position of MP for this, but from what I know, from what I’ve seen, from the several talks I’ve had with him, especially on the insurance market and for solving the RCA problem as well as from the talks he had with the transporters and not only, it strenghtened the conviction that is is a very well prepared individual and that he would be very appropriate for this position,” Dragnea said.
Leonard Badea was elected at the beginning of 2017 president of the Commission for budget and finance of the Romanian Parliament, after its former head, Viorel Stefan, was named Minister of Finance.
