The local online retailer eMAG posted sales to RON 360 million for Black Friday, by 20 percent more than the last year. The company says that Romanians are more trusting in the card payment, a proof is the record percentage of this year.

This year of Black Friday campaign brought 8.3 million views on eMAG site and 1.1 million products ordered in value of RON 360 million, by RON 10 million over the estimated value and an year-on-year growth by 20 percent.

“The main phenomena that we registered this Black Friday were the domination of mobile, the record growth of card payment and the clients’ orientation towards the products from superior ranges. The smartphone became the simplest and most efficient manner to acquire online products, with a share of over two thirds of the overall views for Black Friday. It’s a trend that we anticipated 6-7 years ago and we estimate that it will still grow,” said  Tudor Manea,  general director eMAG.

Also the trust in card payment reached a historical peak, exceeding the level of 30 percent, which shows a more informed behavior of the clients.

30.7 percent of the ordered were paid online via a banking card (during the 2016 campaign the card payments percent was 26).

A third tendency was the value increase of the average value ordered by clients (up to EUR 970/order). And the clients’ orientation towards superior ranges.

A double number of sellers posted Black Friday offers in 2017 and sold 258,000 products worth over RON 65 million.
