Enel invests RON 8.6 million in Bucharest’s electric infrastructure

Enel Distribution Muntenia performed in the first five months of the year modernization works and investments benefiting more than 100,000 of its customers in Bucharest. The purpose of the works, the company reveals, is to make the electricity distribution service more secure.

Between January-May 2016, Enel Distribution Muntenia teams have upgraded and introduced in Telecontrol, the network’s monitoring and remote control system, a total of 12 delivery points and 30 alteration points. Thanks to the changes operated, should a failure occur, it can be resolved faster and remote, with no need to send a team at the site, a press statement by the company informs.

Also during this time, the company has completed the upgrading of the medium and low voltage network started a year ago in the Dorobanti and Cotroceni neighborhoods. The operation ivolved the replacing of old cables of low and medium voltage performance with the new ones that have an increased capacity of electricity transmission.

Also, the transition to 20kV in Piata Sudului was completed and was correlated with the Bucharest City Hall’s project to build a tunnel at Piata Sudului. Overall, cable networks spread over 6 km were modernized.

The works are part of an extensive modernization and telemanagement program implemented by Enel in Romania with the purpose to improve the quality of customer service, network modernization and implementation of local environmental quality standards, the company informs. The works performed during the first five months of the year represent a RON 8.6 million investment. The company has several such projects planned for 2016, some of which are already in progress, the company said in a statement.
