The EU contribution to the accomplishment of this project is EUR 29.3 million through the European Funds for Regional Development (FEDR), according to the European Commission.
„Through the allocation of this money from FEDR, as a result of the European Commission decision, Romania will recover its expenses made initially from the national budget for this project. The rehabilitation of the 54 km of national road is important not only for the almost 250,000 inhabitants of Salaj county, but also for the international transport operators. The project contributes to the creation of a sustainable national transport system, in the benefit of the population and of business environment, ” said Corina Cretu, the European Commissioner for regional policy.
The project is co-financed through the Operational Sectorial „Transport” Program 2007-2013, in the primary Axis 2 „Modernization and national transport infrastructure aiming to develop a durable transport system”.
Romania has EUR 20 billion allocated through the funds cohesion policy during 2007-2013 and other EUR 23 billion during 2014-2020.
