Romanian travel company Eximtur has signed an affiliation agreement with Canadian travel management company Uniglobe Travel in move to boost its business travel division.
Eximtur has reported a EUR 47 million turnover last year, of which 69 percent was generated by business travel, according to company data. It was this that prompted the company to join a global travel management company which would offer international support and which Eximtur would represent locally, said company representatives.
“The Uniglobe Travel affiliation offers us access to a high-achieving international system for the management of business travel activities. The main advantages of this affiliation include access to high-tech, informatics and booking systems which enable optimizing prices, an improved management of clients’ demands as well as access to selected and validated suppliers worldwide,” explained Lucia Nora Morariu, Eximtur’s CEO.
Eximtur was set up in 1993 in Cluj-Napoca. Presently it runs a network of 28 travel agencies country-wide (both owned and franchised). The company’s business is divided into four segments – leisure travel, business travel, event organization and a “travel school”. Last year it posted a EUR 300,000 profit and a 16 percent turnover increase.
The company has been on a constant upward trend over the past years, increasing its turnover from EUR 26 million in 2009.
