Finance minister Ionut Misa said that 70 percent of the banks from Romania didn’t pay the profit tax for 5 years.

„We focused also on the big companies. We dared to make controls in banks. One of the controls is finished. In the case of one of the banks from Romania, it was finished by diminishing the fiscal loss of RON 650 million and established a supplementary payment of RON 104 million. In the next years, the bank will pay the profit tax, diminishing the loss. The income tax won’t compensate the previous losses. There are companies that pay an amount an income tax similar to a commercial bank. We have 70 percent of the banks from Romania which didn’t pay the profit tax in the last five years,” said Misa.
