The foreign currencies reserves of the Romanian National Bank (BNR) went up by EUR 1.2 billion to EUR 36 billion in April, according to a release of the central bank.
The gold reserve was maintained at 103.7 tonnes. Based on the international prices, its value was EUR 3.8 billion. The international reserve of Romania (foreign currencies plus gold) was EUR 39.82 billion on April 30, compared with EUR 38.57 billion in March 31.
During March there were entries of EUR 1.9 billion, representing the change in minimum reserves in foreign currency, represented by banks, the accounts entries of Public Finance Ministry and others. The outflows amounted to EUR 656 million, representing the change in minimum reserves in foreign currency of banks, interests and installments payments in the account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, as well as others.
The payments with maturity in May in the public debt account in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Public Finance Ministry, amount to EUR 158 million.
