Romanian government to monitor fuel prices

Newsroom 19/10/2017 | 11:49

The Romanian government will create a new monitoring system for fuel prices in Romania, similar to the food prices monitor. The government approved the move at its Wednesday session.

The Romanian government wants to increase the market’s transparency so the clients can choose the fuel at the best price-quality ratio.

According to the government, making the market transparent could raise the degree of competition and bring benefits for the fuel quality and prices.

The government wants to extend the prices monitor in the fuel area by applying fines according to the competition law. Therefore the Competition Council will have a legal framework according which it can request information of the active companies on the market, which will allow a better monitoring of the oil companies and fuel prices.
