The number of apartments built in the first semester of the year fell compared with the first semester of 2016, to 23,057, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Most of the apartments from the second quarter of the year were built in urban area (7,380), which represents 56.9 percent of the total.
In the second quarter of the year the number of finished apartments from public and private funds increased by 319, respectively by 138 apartments, compared with the second quarter of 2016.
The distribution on regional profile shows an increase in the number of finished apartments in the development regions: Bucharest- Ilfov (+619 apartments), North-East (+294), Center (+195), South–Muntenia (+148) and West (+25).
The decreases were registered in the North-West (-516 apartments), South-East (-287) and South-West Oltenia (-21).
In the first semester of 2017, most of the apartments became operational in the urban area with a share of 57.6 percent of the overall.
The number of apartments developed from private funds dropped by 169 apartments in the first semester of this year compared with the semester of 2016, while the number of apartments from public funds was up by 570 units.
