INS revises Romania’s economic growth estimate in Q3 to 4.3 pct of GDP

The National Institute of Statistics (INS) revised the estimations published at the beginning of December for the third quarter of 2016 from 4.4 percent to 4.3 percent, compared with the same period of 2015, both on gross and adjusted series.

On December 6 2016, the initial data published by INS indicated that the GDP climbed by 4.4 percent on gross series and 4.6 percent on adjusted series on seasonal factors compared with the same period of 2015 and by 0.6 percent compared with the previous quarter, while the increase on the first nine months was 4.9 percent, according to News.ro.

The data presented on Fridays shows an increase of only 4.3 percent on gross series compared with the third quarter of 2015 and of 4.5 percent on adjusted series on seasonal factors, while the nine months increase was revised negatively to 4.8 percent.

The revised data shows a significant moderation of the economic increase compared with the second quarter, when Romania’s GDP went up by 6 percent compared with 2015 and by 1.5 percent compared with the previous quarter.

On the seasonal adjusted data, the Romania’s GDP went up by 4.5 percent in the third quarter compared with the same period of 201, after growing by 5.8 percent in the second quarter and 4.1 percent in the first quarter of the year.

The activity from information and communication sector went up by 15.4 percent compared with the third quarter of 2015 and the trade went up by 9.2 percent
