Inspectors try to visit site of suspected Syria gas attack after missile strikes

International inspectors will try to visit the site of the suspected gas attack in Syria even after the missile strikes led by the US, Reuters reports.

The inspectors from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) were due to visit Douma on Monday, but the group said that they had not yet been granted access.

Russia had condemned the Western states that participated in the strikes for refusing to wait for the findings of OPCW before launching the missiles. However, the US envoy to the OPCW said that Russia may have tampered with the site in Douma.

The West blame the Syrian leader Assad for the attack which killed dozens of people, but the Syrian government and close ally Russia deny any involvement. Douma was one of the last bastions of anti-Assad rebel groups.
