Investments in the Romanian economy increased by 15.3 percent in Q3

The level of investments made in the Romanian economy increased by 15.3 percent in the third quarter of this year, compared to the similar period of 2010, according to Agerpres newswire, that quotes a flash estimate from the National Statistics Office (INS). Official data also reveal that the level of investments increased by 2.7 percent in the first nine months of 2011 versus the similar period of 2010.

The INS data for the third quarter show gains of 35.6 percent in equipment investments and 3.8 percent for new constructions. However, the level of construction works within total volume of investments decreased by 4.5 percent, while  the expenditure segment posted a 0.7 percent decrease. The share of investments in equipments (including means of transportation) increased by 5.2 percent.

Investments that accounted for new building works, in the first nine months of 2011, totaled RON 20 billion, which is 51.1 percent of total investments made in the Romanian economy, down 0.5 percent from the same period of 2010.

Investments in equipments and means of transportation totaled RON 15.7 billion, or 39.7 percent of total investments, by end-September 2011, which is a 2 percent increase from the similar period of 2010.

INS data reveal that in the first three quarters of this year, the largest volume of investments was made in industry and trade/services.
