President Klaus Iohannis told Parliament that the Social Democratic Party (PSD), “which created this crisis” has the obligation to solve it “urgently”, warning that, otherwise, he will call consultations at Cotroceni Palace “to see what the possible solutions are.”

According to Iohannis, “repealing ordinance No. 13 and, eventually, the tortuous sacking of a minister is certainly too little,” but “snap elections in this phase is too much.”

You won [the elections], now govern and give laws, but not at random,” but transpatently, predictably “at the light of day, not at night, hidden,” Iohannis told PSD and Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) MPs.

The prosperity of the people was not the first priority, the first concern was to take care of the files of those convicted and Romanians are outraged and revolted,” Iohannis said. His remarks were received with applause from opposition MPs and loud hoots from the rest of MPs.

Iohannis also said that is adamant about calling a referendum. As soon as the Parliament will issue an answer to his request, President Iohannis said he will start proceedings to this end.
