Gabriel Sicoe is the new president of The Romanian Car Makers Association (ACAROM), starting March 22. He is replacing Constantin Stroe, who passed away in December 2016.

Sicoe was a close collaborator of Stroe and has a deep understating of the local automotive sector.

The infrastructure development in Romania is a priority on the ACAROM agenda, as well as the auto market development and the improvement of work force quality.

Sicoe, 60, graduated from the Planning and Cybernetics Economy Faculty within the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. In 1981, he started working as economist within the Auto Enterprise Pitesti and in 1991 he was named chief of Planning Service. In 1992, he was appointed in the management team of Automobile Dacia led by Constantin Stroe. Since 2003, he has been general director of public affairs of Automobile Dacia until 2009, when he became vice-president of APIA.

ACAROM members also approved the appointment of John Oldham, president of Ford Romania, within the Director Board, and of Adrianu Sandu, general secretary of the Association. Oldham took over the vice-president function of ACAROM and the leading function of the commission.

Silviu Badea, the director of the supplier GIC Pitesti, was reconfirmed as vice-president of ACAROM in charge of the commission of car suppliers.
