The minister of labor, Lia Olguta Vasilescu, claims that the average increase of wages in the public sector by 56 percent is in line with the government’s program for the next four years.

„We won’t have situations in which the salaries under RON 4,000 that double on average to exceed the salaries that are now paid with RON 7,000. There are clearly limited levels from one class to another. I also observe that the request that salaries from army field and public order not to be released on the press until it become final after negotiations was actually put on release. From there, anybody can see how the salaries are computed until 2021. I mention that the annex is not final until we have the final agreement with the unions and until is approved by the Parliament,” said Vasilescu, according to a Facebook post.

The Labor Commission’s president in the Chamber of Deputies, the social-democrat Adrian Solomon, said on Monday that the governing program of PSD includes an increase in stages of the state workers salaries, saying that the declaration of Vasilescu regarding the doubling of salaries is probably a miscommunication.

„In the Government program is written very clear that in four years the increase will be by 46 percent. I don’t know where this doubling came from, it’s probably a miscommunication. Have patience, as it will be a sustainable thing and won’t scare neither the private sector workers, nor the state workers. In the Government program it’s clear that these levels will reach the maximum and some have already reached the maximum. A part has even received the increases, in administration they reached 20 percent and in other fields 15 percent, maybe from July 1 those categories won’t receive anymore increases, but those who haven’t received yet,” said Solomon.

He also added that salaries doubling is realistic only for those with salaries of RON 1,000 net.

„If we talk about those who have RON 1,000 net probably the doubling is realistic, but for those who have over RON 2,000-3,000 it will be impossible,”  said Solomon.
