Main BVB index reaches 9-year high on Tuesday

BET, the main index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) reached on Tuesday the highest level from the last nine years, of 7,862 points at 12 PM, registering a growth of 11 percent since the beginning of the year.

„BET index that follows the most liquid 10 shares from BVB, climbed by over 10 percent this year compared with 2016, when the level was 7,085 points. During this day until 12 PM the BET index reached 7,862 points, which means an increase of almost 11 percent made in less than two months compared with the end of 2016,” said the BVB, according to Agerpres.

Previously, the BET index reached 7,915 points on January 27 2008.

At noon the stock exchange was on a growth path and the BET index rose by 0.72 percent.

The highest shares within the main index are owned by Fondul Proprietatea with 19.9 percent, followed by Banca Translvania with 19.64 percent and OMV Petrom with 16.55 percent.

The market turnover amounted to RON 15.7 million.

The BET-Plus index showing the evolution of the most liquid 37 shares from BVB was up by 0.7 percent and BET-NG index that shows the evolution of 10 companies from energy sector and utilities registered an appreciation of 0.54 percent.
