Mediafax brought to trial in tax evasion case

Mediafax, along with its majority shareholder, Adrian Sarbu, and ten other persons, have been indicted by the High Court of Cassation and Justice, according to a press release by the institution.

Accusations include tax evasion, incitement to embezzlement and money laundering. Mediafax group companies allegedly used a pay system designed to circumvent taxes to the state budget.

Prosecutors established that the damage in case amounts to EUR 14 million.

Among those indicted there are Mediafax group’s former administrator (Dorina Grigoruta), former general director (Ilie Orlando Nicoara) and former CFO (Daniel Cozac Reghina), along with Eugenia Balan and Sorin Dinu Nicolae.

The file was sent to settlement to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
