Mega Image close to reaching 500 stores across Romania

The retailer Mega Image, part of the Dutch-Belgian group Ahold- Delhaize, has opened today five stores in Bucharest and reached close to 500 units across Romania, with two stores left to reach this figure.

Mega Image was founded in 1995 and has 498 stores in Bucharest, Constanta, Ploiesti, Brasov and Targoviste and other cities within the country under the brands Mega Image (222), Shop&Go (274), Gusturi Romanesti (2).

In 2015, Mega Image recorded a turnover growth rate of 26.6 percent to RON 3.56 billion (EUR 801 million) and almost doubled its net profit to RON 102 million (EUR 23 million).

In August, Dutch retailer Ahold and Belgian retailer Delhaize announced the merger of the two groups.
