Minimum guaranteed social pension up by 30 pct starting 1 March

The minimum guaranteed social pension increased by 30 percent starting March 1st, to RON 520. The measure will benefit 1,022,168 people.

Starting 1 March 2017, the level of the social allowance for pensioners, provided by the Government emergency ordinance no. 6/2009 on the setting of the minimum guaranteed social pension, approved by the Law no. 196/2009, with subsequent amendments, stands at RON 520,” Article 2, paragraph 2 of the emergency ordinance said.

The law on the creation of the minimum guaranteed social pension stated that, starting 1 April 2009 the allowance will stand at RON 300, and, starting 1 October 2009, at RON 350.

Starting 2010, the level of the minimum guaranteed social pension is set annually, through the state budget law, taking into account the evolution of the macroeconomic indicators and financial resources. The same emergency ordinance states that, starting 1 July 2017, the value of the pension point increases by 9 percent and stands at RON 1,000.
