I congratulate Romania for the major efforts of raising the defence budget to 2 percent of GDP in 2017, said on Thursday NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, adding that it is an example to be followed by the state members of NATO, according to Agerpres.
„In a world with complex threats and in continuous evolution, bigger budgets for defence are needed, as well as a fair split of tasks,” said Stoltenberg in a declaration sent to the NATO press.
„Romania offers both, being an example to be followed by the other Allies,” said Stoltenberg.
He also added that Romania shows leadership by hosting a multinational squad, strengthening the NATO position in the South-Eastern flank of the Alliance.
