Net investments in national economy grew 3.6 pct in 2017

According to the National Institute of Statistics, net investments in the national economy reached RON 50,095 million, a 3.6 percent increase from 2016.

The INS describes net investments as the expenditure meant for the creation of new assets, for the development, modernisation and reconstruction of existing ones, as well as for the value of the services on the property transfer of existing fixed assets and lands with pay from other units or from the population (notary fees, commissions, expenses for transport, handling, etc.).

The third quarter of 2017 saw a 10.3% increase in net investments compared to the same period of 2016, for all structure elements: equipments (means of transportation included) by 22.8 percent; other expenditure – 11.7 percent; new construction works by 0.1 percent.

From January 1 – November 30 of 2017, the INS registered a 6.6 percent growth for equipments and 1.4 percent for new construction works. However, the net investments in the other expenditure category decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the same period of 2016.

By national economy activities, in 2017 there was an increase in the share of net investments in new construction works of 6.2 percent. Industry registered more than a third of the net investments (35.2 percent), an increase of 2 percentage points from 2016.
