RES, a major player specialised in the creation, automation and securing of digital work spaces, has opened a Research&Development center in Bucharest in the presence of company CEO Al Monserrat, CTO and founder Bob Janssen and Alina Sandru, Director – Software Engineering Operations Romania.

RES started off in 1999 in the Dutch city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch and has since expanded to the UK, the U.S., Denmark, France, Norway, Sweden, Germany and, as of last week, Boston. The Bucharest office, the company’s first in a Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) country, is located in the capital’s Barbu Vacarescu business district.

According to Senior Vice President of Engineering Perry Smith, “after we analysed more regions, it became clear that Bucharest and Boston are the perfect locations due to the talents found there. I am thrilled to welcome these professionals to the RES team and I am looking forward to doing great things together.”

RES Romania employs over 40 Romanian and international staff out of the company’s 330-strong global team. According to company representatives, RES Romania’s core team was taken over from outsourcing company Stefanini ADC Romania. The team had already been working on RES products for several years at the time the company decided to open a Bucharest office, RES representatives say.

RES provides digital workspace solutions to over 2,500 clients, active mainly in the health care, services and public sector, spread in 27 countries. According to company representatives, RES does not have any Romanian clients as of yet but is currently pursuing that objective. The company develops its security solutions and applications in partnership with companies such as IBM, Microsoft and Citrix.

“As we are continuously aiming to excel in our industry, this international expansion is giving us access to talents so that we can accelerate the development of the best solutions. Today marks a milestone for RES: it underlines our interest in providing solutions that our clients will love, as well as the desire to offer opportunities to IT specialists in Bucharest,” Al Monserrat, RES CEO said in a press statement.

Alina Sandru, Director – Software Engineering Operations Romania, has over 10 years of experience in multinational companies and is part of the core team that started off at Stefanini ADC Romania. “Here, (…) we are a close-knit team, with people who are passioned about technology. It is that work environment where you feel at ease from the first day. The entire RES Engineering department is developing with passion products that end up being awarded and acknowledged as the best in the digital workspace field,” Sandor said.
