Number of individuals with back payments to banks and IFNs down to 643,770 in February

The number of individuals with back payments higher than 30 days to banks and non-banking financial institutions (IFNs) went down to 643,770 in February, compared to the level from January, according to the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The back payments value reached RON 8.03 billion in February, a drop by 0.69 percent compared with the previous month, out of which over RON 3 billion in national currency, RON 3.34 billion in EUR, RON 1.59 billion equivalent in other foreign currency and RON 47.4 million equivalent in USD.

The back payments longer than 90 days represented over RON 4.53 billion. Also, the BNR statistics reveal that there were back payments of RON 52.1 million, with a delay of 61-90 days, respectively RON 37.3 million between 31-60 days.

The total value of the loans outside the balance sheet exceeded RON 1.41 billion and close to RON 2 billion from collections.

The loans for firms and populations amounted to RON 13.6 billion at the end of February, a drop by 35.7 percent compared with February 2016, according to BNR data.

Out of this amount, over RON 6 billion represented back payments in national currency, a drop by 33.4 percent and around RON 7.55 billion back payments in foreign currency, a drop by 37.5 percent. Out of the overall back payments, around RON 4.98 billion were registered in Bucharest.

The overall loans exceeded RON 222.5 billion at the end of February, by 2.11 percent higher than the value of February 2015.
