Office building in northern Bucharest evacuated after hoax bomb threat

An office building located in Bucharest’s business district, near metro station Aurel Vlaicu, was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon following a bomb threat.

According to local media reports, the bomb alert was received at the emergency number 112 around 2 pm. The building in question, Hotnews reports, Bucharest One, hosts the headquarters of Vodafone.

Speaking over the telephone, Georgian Dragan, spokesman with the Romanian Police,  told local broadcaster Digi 24 that several specialised police units were present at the scene, where they implemented standard procedures required in such cases. Traffic in the area was diverted for security reasons.

According to the latest updates by Digi 24, the bomb alert was a hoax.
